So my friend George (http://smalltowntheory.blogspot.co.uk/) and I have put this summer to a productive start by converting George's grandparents coach house into a small, quaint sweat box studio and have started to record some covers that I will soon post on here. These covers range from Green Day to Bruno Mars and honestly, I'm really proud of the progress that we have made with the conditions that we've dealt with. An un-musically treated room with a very cheap drum kit, a small amp and very simple micing with minimal mixing and yet it sounds better that half the stuff that I have recorded at school in the very expensive recording rooms. I think it goes to show that you could have all the things that you need to do something but without drive then you're never going to get anywhere.

I think one of the things that I love most about this studio space is thinking about what it used to be, a simple coach house with hay and saddle and coaches for horses and now look at it. It's amazing what some equipment and paint can do to a place. I always like spaces that have been converted into something from something completely different. Like a factory to an art gallery or an ice berg into a hotel. No one in their right mind would have thought when that initial building was there that it would turn into the other.

Above I have posted what I am most pleased with so far. In this version I am playing all instruments but in the finished version I hope to get in an actual drummer and re record the guitar solo as it was just improvised in this. For a very rough draft I think it sounds very good. It's an amazing song but it's
very unknown so if you wanna go listen to the original I'll post a link and the bottom of the page.
